Hi Kidlets,
It’s been a fantastic week over here! I am finally employed! I won’t discuss who I am working for because I consider that to be relatively personal, and I try to keep stuff like that out of the blog. However, if you are friends with me and not a lurker you probably already know. I am quite excited about this.
In other news:
1.) I went to The Strand (www.strandbooks.com) on the weekend with my husband. I’ve always loved spending time in bookstores. Maybe it’s because I can read all my favorite magazines for free, or find a book I consider too expensive to purchase and read a couple of chapters from it each week until I’ve read it all. Who knows. But anyways, The Strand is great because it’s basically a huge warehouse of used (but recent!) books. You get get the latest copy of Julie & Julia (the second one where she cheats on her husband – aka. the better one, because it’s a disaster) for $5.50 instead of $19.99. I love it! On this particular visit to the strand, my husband decided to peruse the dollar book bins outside the store and was serenaded by a homeless man singing “like a virgin, touched for the very first time.” I think he liked it.
2.) Banana Republic is my favourite clothing store. They have great sales and I always find myself charging through to the back of the store like a bull in a china shop. Today I visited the Banana Republic on 5th and 50th. This is where clothes go to die. I’ve never seen such an enormous sale section – but it wasn’t a good thing. They had items on sale that I’ve never even seen before, mass amounts of them. I consider myself to be pretty familiar with Banana’s offerings each season, so it’s surprising for me to see an item that somehow missed my radar months earlier. This was the case for about 75% of the store – it was strange. It wasn’t even good stuff. Hence the reason why this location is purgatory for clothing.
3.) Facebook keeps telling me that I’m “neglecting my garden” – I don’t even have a garden! How do I get it to stop. Every time I login I get one of those red notification things and I get all excited thinking its a wall post, but it always the same damn message “You are neglecting your garden” – WTF?
4.) By now, I’m pretty used to seeing random addicts on the street doing the heroin lean. BUT, I do not think its acceptable to do this smack in the middle of 5th avenue and 23rd street – there are children around!! I think it’s time for an intervention. Maybe thats a good business idea for me – “Mobile Intervention” – I think it’d be a hit. It’s more spontaneous than regular intervention. People like spontaneity.
Anyhoo, thats all for now. My husband is traveling for business tonight, so I’m going to use this opportunity to sprawl out on our 2-seater couch and watch Tomb Raider. This is a rarity.
I had planned to call my lovely sister tonight for a chat (as we had planned) and to inject a little human interaction into my evening, but SHE IS NOT PICKING UP HER PHONE. uh UM!

….that brighten my day! Not that it needs brightening. Makes it brighter. Better. Good.
This package (not for me, UNFORTUNATELY) was sitting in the foyer of my apartment. I had to blur out the address and last name for the sake of this persons privacy. Not that I know them, but it also tell random readers where I live and thats just creepy.
MAC does a pretty good job of practically erasing the address. It looks like I did it myself, but that would be wrong. Tim may never get his package. Poor tiny Tim. “God Bless Us, Every one!”
I’m running errands today. Should be fun. Especially when errands consist of going to Soho and popping into Kate Spade and J Crew. But seriously, I do have to go to Best Buy (aka. the worst store on earth).

No I didn’t get a job. I’ve resorted to asking my friends if they have any work I can do. Thankfully, one of my dear friends (who happens to be representing Samsung at the 2010 Olympics!!) gave me a project. It relates to the Olympics, obviously. We all know how much I know about sports – I mean, after last nights 5+ hours of drinking, football watching, and Trivial pursuit playing at the bar with my husband, I think I can consider myself a full on sports expert.
Shopping is a sport right?
I also like to blow bubbles with my gym, gossip about boys, wonder what kissing is like, wear pigtails, and stuff my bra (still do this). Oh, and listen to Justin Bieber.
Speaking of Justin Bieber, it’s 14 degrees here today in New York City. Seriously? And it’s raining!
More important than everything stated above is the fact that today is my 6-month wedding anniversary! I love my husband. Thanks for going to work everyday while I sit around and watch TV, and spend money.

Where have I been? Looking for a job. I don’t know where I got the idea that I would be employed shortly after receiving my employment-authorization card. Things have not exactly worked out according to plan. NYC is a big city with a lot of unemployed people. Just another lesson in patience I guess. I haven’t blogged in a little while because…..in all honesty, nothing very interesting has happened! However, I will leave you with a few highlights.
1.) My closet door fell off the other day and hit me in the face. I tend to view events like this as having some sort of deeper meaning. Either I have too many clothes (a result of being unemployed….ironically) and need to feng shui my life a little, or my closet is hungry and desperately searching for something to eat (read: more shoes) and the only way it can get my attention is through violence. Sometimes violence is the only way to go. When your as juiced as I am, it’s often the only option.
2.) I saw Tyra Banks at 16 Handles (www.16handles.com). 16 Handles happens to be the best ice cream shop in my neighborhood, and it’s good to know that Tyra enjoys cake batter fro-yo with reeses pieces as much as I do. Probably not as often as I do, but probably just as much. Reason #15,679 why she is a supermodel and I (thankfully) am not.
3.) For the past week my senses have been really screwed up. Last night my husband desperately wanted to go out for indian food (which happens to be my favourite) and the thought of it was making me gag. I was totally starving but nothing was appealing (note: I am not sick, nor am I pregnant – sorry mom) – we walked around the east village for over an hour (while my husband cried for McDonalds) and I couldn’t stomach any of the menu’s without feeling ill. We finally found a cute little french bistro that didn’t make me feel like vomiting so we went in and waited half an hour to be seated. I ordered a burger and fries, and narrowly dodged being strangled. This morning everything smelled like nickels.
I’m off to go to a sports bar with my husband to watch some football game. I don’t give a hoot about football, but I’ll take any excuse to drink pints of blue moon on a Sunday afternoon and shout fumble at inappropriate times. Hopefully I’ll get into a brawl so I’ll have something to blog about tomorrow.

staging an intervention.
I guess living with me has been quite traumatic.
I probably shouldn’t have kids.

What have I been doing today you ask? Sitting in my nice WARM apartment eating an apple with my pug. Don’t worry, she doesn’t have her own apple – I just feed her chunks. Portion control.
The heat isn’t on today, but I finally exchanged my defective space heater that I purchased weeks ago for a brand spanking new one. It smells like hot dogs when I turn it on, but it works.
Some things I’ve observed today:
1.) Apples suck at this time of year – they’re all mealy. eww.
2.) I love my neighbourhood – in the span of one block I saw three cross-dressers while walking to purchase said space heater. Looking good boys!
3.) People in New York seem to dislike Kleenex and prefer to simply plug one nostril and blow out onto the street. I saw this twice today. Is there a culture that deems this appropriate? Maybe I’m missing something. I’d love to join in the fun.
4.) I’d like to start working NOW PLEASE.
I’m going to Cafeteria tonight with some wild child friend of mine. It was on The Hills once, so it MUST be good. Sup excited.
